MPH bookstore can’t find its own books

Went to a local bookstore today looking for the fantasy series Malazan Book of the Fallen. Wonders of wonders they had most of the series on the shelves, but not book one. Surprisingly, book one is listed in their database as available (2). I had the staff help me look for it, and kudos to them, they tried. Alas, no book in sight.

Database error or placement gaffe?

Either way I went home disappointed. No book for me. To think, if they had found the book, they would have gotten 200 bucks of my money for the whole series.

A friend told me its retribution for this prank I played on said bookstore a few months back.

It might be that their database is not updated in real time, for whatever reason.
    It happens…

I see. Always assumed it would be. Brings to mind why I once found a book on the shelf when it was listed as out of stock in the database.

There you have it. Human error, most likely – some bloke forgot to update the stock.
